Is this really free?
Yes. The site is supported by ads, and there are no limits on how many files you convert.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The converter runs entirely in your browser. Files stay on your device, which also makes it faster than upload-based converters for anything larger than a few megabytes.
Is there a file size limit?
The only limit is your device's memory. Images and audio of any normal size are fine; for video, files under about 500 MB work well on most laptops and phones.
Which browsers are supported?
Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari on desktop and mobile. Very old browsers without WebAssembly support will not work.
Does it work offline?
Yes, after the first use of a tool. The site installs as a web app from the browser menu, and the engines are cached once they have been downloaded, so a tool you have used keeps working with no connection.
Why does the first video conversion take a while to start?
FFmpeg is a 31 MB download. It happens once and is cached; the next conversion starts immediately. Images, GIFs, and PDFs use much smaller engines.
Can I paste a link instead of a file?
Only for direct file links on hosts that allow other sites to read them (CDNs, GitHub raw files, Giphy media). The browser fetches the URL itself. There is deliberately no server in between, so links to YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram pages cannot work here.
How is the site paid for?
Ads. There is no premium tier, no account, and nothing is sold. Please do not click the ads to help; impressions pay, clicks that are not real interest get the account closed.
A tool gave a wrong result. What do I do?
Tell me at help@amba.tools: the tool, the browser, the file type, and what happened. Do not send the file itself unless you are happy to share it; usually the format and size are enough to reproduce it.
