About the image tools
Every tool on this page uses the picture decoder already in your browser, with two additions: libheif for the HEIC photos iPhones shoot, and the MozJPEG, libwebp, and OxiPNG encoders for compression, all compiled to WebAssembly. That is why a folder of twelve-megapixel photos converts in a few seconds with no upload and no queue.
Which format to pick comes down to what the picture is. Photographs belong in JPG, or WebP and AVIF when the destination is a web page. Screenshots, logos, line art, and anything needing transparency belong in PNG. A logo that has to scale belongs in SVG, which our tracers can build from a PNG or JPG. Resizing is the one operation that cannot be undone: shrinking throws pixels away, and enlarging invents them, so keep the original.
