About this tool
Most images are far bigger than they need to be. A phone photo is 3-6 MB, yet the version that ends up on a website, in a chat, or in an email would look identical at 300 KB. This tool re-encodes your images at a quality level you choose, optionally shrinking oversized dimensions, and shows you the before-and-after size for every file.
For photographs, JPG or WebP at quality 75-85 gives the best size-to-quality ratio. PNG is lossless, so a PNG is optimized with OxiPNG (typically 10-40% smaller with identical pixels); for big savings reduce its dimensions or switch to WebP. Batch mode lets you drop in a whole folder and download the results as a ZIP.

Questions
How much smaller will my images get?
Photos typically shrink 60-90% at quality 80 with no visible difference. The encoders are MozJPEG, libwebp, and OxiPNG, the same ones behind Squoosh, so results are 15-30% smaller than saving from a browser or a phone at the same quality. Drag the slider on the result to compare.
Will compression reduce the resolution?
Only if you set a maximum dimension. By default the pixel size is unchanged; only the compression level changes.
Why did my PNG barely shrink?
PNG is lossless, so the quality slider does not apply. Choose WebP or JPG as the output format, or set a max dimension, for real savings.
Is it free, are files uploaded, which browsers work: the general questions are answered once for the whole site.
