About this tool
Most images are far bigger than they need to be. A phone photo is 3-6 MB, yet the version that ends up on a website, in a chat, or in an email would look identical at 300 KB. This tool re-encodes your images at a quality level you choose, optionally shrinking oversized dimensions, and shows you the before-and-after size for every file.
For photographs, JPG or WebP at quality 75-85 gives the best size-to-quality ratio. PNG is lossless, so a PNG can only get smaller by reducing its dimensions or switching to WebP; if you keep PNG as the output, expect modest savings. Batch mode lets you drop in a whole folder and download the results as a ZIP.
Everything happens inside your browser. Your file is never uploaded to a server: the conversion runs on your own device using WebAssembly, and the result is downloaded straight from memory. Close the tab and nothing is left behind.

Frequently asked questions
How much smaller will my images get?
Photos typically shrink 60-90% at quality 80 with no visible difference. Screenshots and graphics vary more; try WebP output for the best results.
Will compression reduce the resolution?
Only if you set a maximum dimension. By default the pixel size is unchanged; only the compression level changes.
Why did my PNG barely shrink?
PNG is lossless, so the quality slider does not apply. Choose WebP or JPG as the output format, or set a max dimension, for real savings.
Is this really free?
Yes. The site is supported by ads, and there are no limits on how many files you convert.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The converter runs entirely in your browser. Files stay on your device, which also makes it faster than upload-based converters for anything larger than a few megabytes.
Is there a file size limit?
The only limit is your device's memory. Images and audio of any normal size are fine; for video, files under about 500 MB work well on most laptops and phones.
Which browsers are supported?
Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari on desktop and mobile. Very old browsers without WebAssembly support will not work.
