About this tool
Discord refuses uploads over 10 MB on free accounts, and most gameplay clips blow past that in seconds. This tool takes any MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, or AVI, reads its length, and encodes it at exactly the bitrate that fits the limit you pick, lowering the resolution when the budget is tight so the picture stays watchable instead of blocky. The result is an MP4 that plays inline in Discord on desktop and mobile.
Files are compressed on your own device, so a 2 GB recording never has to be uploaded anywhere first. For the best quality, trim the clip to the seconds you actually want before compressing; fewer seconds means more bits for each one.
How to use it
- Drop your MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV file into the box above, or click to browse. Nothing is uploaded.
- Adjust the options if you want; the defaults suit most files.
- Click the button and wait a moment.
- Download the result.
Questions
What is the Discord file size limit?
10 MB for free accounts, 50 MB with Nitro Basic, and 500 MB with Nitro. Older guides mention 8 MB and 25 MB; those were the previous limits.
How does it hit the size exactly?
It reads the video length, works out the bitrate that fits the budget with a small safety margin, encodes, and if the result still overshoots it lowers the bitrate and encodes again, up to three passes.
Will the quality be bad?
That depends on length: a 30 second clip at 10 MB looks fine at 720p, a 10 minute recording at 10 MB has to drop to 360p and will look soft. Trim the video first if you only need part of it.
Why is the output MP4?
MP4 with H.264 and AAC is what Discord, email clients, and phones play without fuss and what compresses most predictably.
