About this tool
A currency converter that uses the European Central Bank's daily reference rates for 31 currencies, including the dollar, euro, pound, yen, Canadian and Australian dollars, Swiss franc, yuan, rupee, and peso. Type an amount, choose the currencies, and get the converted amount, the rate in both directions, and a table for common amounts.
The rates are fetched from the open frankfurter.dev service when you open the page and cached on your device for the day, so the page keeps working offline afterwards. Nothing about you or your amounts is sent anywhere; only the rate table is downloaded.
How to use it
- Enter an amount and pick the two currencies.
- The conversion, the rate, and the inverse rate appear at once, with the amount in ten other currencies below.
- Check the rate date: ECB rates are published once per working day.
Questions
Why is the rate different from my bank?
Banks and card networks convert at a rate that includes their margin, and some add a fee per transaction. Reference rates are the mid-market rate with no margin; use them to spot a bad deal.
How often do the rates update?
The ECB publishes rates once every working day around 16:00 Central European Time. The date shown is the day the rates were set.
Where is Bitcoin or my currency?
The ECB list covers 31 major currencies and no crypto. Currencies outside that list are not available here.
Is anything I type sent anywhere?
No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser; nothing is stored or transmitted. Refresh the page and it starts clean.
Is it free, are files uploaded, which browsers work: the general questions are answered once for the whole site.
