About this tool

Editing a resource pack normally means unzipping it, hunting through hundreds of folders, editing PNGs in an image program, and zipping it back with the right structure. This tool does the plumbing: drop the zip and every texture appears in a filterable list; click one and it opens in the pixel editor at its true size, with a part guide-free 16 × 16 grid, palettes, mirror, layers, and noise brushes; switching textures saves the previous one into the pack. Add new textures at any path (the list suggests common block, item, entity, and GUI paths), update the description and pack_format for your game version, and download a zip that Minecraft accepts as is.

It also works from scratch: start a new pack, add the textures you want to override, and download. The zip keeps every non-texture file from the original (models, sounds, language files, and animation .mcmeta files) untouched.

How to use it

  1. Drop an existing resource pack zip, or start a new pack.
  2. Pick a texture from the list to open it in the editor; draw with the pencil, fill, layers, and noise brushes, then switch to the next one. Changes are kept in the pack.
  3. Add missing textures by path, set the game version, and download the zip. Drop it in .minecraft/resourcepacks.

Questions

Which pack_format do I need?

It depends on the game version; the version list sets it for you. Packs with an older format still load with a warning; a newer format than the game knows is rejected.

Can it edit textures bigger than 256 pixels?

The editor handles up to 256 × 256, which covers blocks, items, most mobs, and GUI elements. Larger ones (title screens, some 512 × 512 HD packs) can be exported, edited elsewhere, and re-added.

Does it keep animation and model files?

Yes. Everything that is not a PNG passes through untouched, including .mcmeta animation files next to textures, models, sounds, and fonts.

Where does the pack go?

Put the downloaded zip in .minecraft/resourcepacks (the game's Resource Packs screen has an Open Pack Folder button), then enable it in the list.

Is it free, are files uploaded, which browsers work: the general questions are answered once for the whole site.
